SingingIs Athletic.
Most singers warm up and hope for the best. Singers Gym is different. This is a structured, progressive training program that builds real vocal stamina, breath support, and performance confidence. Built for singers who are tired of inconsistency and ready to train.
Five stages. One system.
A voice that performs.
The Stamina Architecture builds a reliable voice from the ground up. Five progressive stages, sequenced the way athletic training is sequenced: establish foundation, develop capacity, test under pressure, own the result.
Stage 1: Release
Before you build anything, the body has to be free. Most vocal fatigue starts with tension, not weakness. We clear the interference first so you can actually access what your voice can do.
Stage 2: Locate
Find where your voice actually lives. Forward resonance, mix voice, efficient placement. You can't build stamina on something you haven't found yet.
Stage 3: Sustain
This is the aerobic work. Sustained vowels, phrase repetitions, progressive loading. We train the respiratory system the same way a runner builds lung capacity: by gradually increasing the demand.
Stage 4: Shape
A voice with stamina but no dynamic control is one-dimensional. Shape is about moving from a whisper to full voice and back, driven by breath, not throat pressure.
Stage 5: Own
Technique that falls apart when you move was never really yours. We test everything in motion: walking vowels, performance simulation, nerves management. If it holds when you're moving, it holds on stage.

Train six progressive weeks
Week 1: The Engine Room. Breath is the foundation of everything. Ribcage expansion, nasal breathing, lip trills. You'll track your starting baselines so you can measure real progress. 10 min/day.
Week 2: Find Your Power Source. Core activation. You'll learn the difference between gripping and engaging (think lighting a gas stove, not clenching a fist). Power is presence, not volume. 15 min, 3–5x/week.
Week 3: Move to Sing. Physical movement integration. Full body shakes, breath-control walking, wall squats while singing. If your support holds while you're moving, it's real. 15 min.
Week 4: Voice in Full. Endurance. Sustained vowels, vocal mantras, dynamics, agility drills. You're building the aerobic engine of your voice. 20 min.
Week 5: Perform with Presence. Dynamic control and nervous system training. Crescendo work, grounding techniques, performance stance, personal mantra creation. Technique without performance confidence is incomplete. 15 min.
Week 6: Integration. Full synthesis. The Ultimate Vocal Athlete Circuit, progress assessment, and your transition to a permanent daily practice you'll keep for life. 10 min daily going forward.
One live coaching call per week with Courtney throughout. Every session is recorded.
Keep lifetime access
When the 6 weeks end, the materials don't. Every lesson, protocol, and recording stays yours. Come back between shows, before auditions, whenever you need it.
The Vocal Athlete does not protect their voice.
They develop it.

Meet Courtney Freed
Courtney Freed is a jazz vocalist, vocal coach, and the founder of Singers Gym.
I've been performing for over twenty years. Jazz clubs, theaters, concert halls, cruise ships, everywhere in between. I know what it takes to show up night after night because I do it. And after years of watching myself and my students lose vocal stamina mid-set, blow out during demanding runs, or just feel inconsistent for no clear reason, I realized something was missing. Nobody was training singers the way athletes train their bodies.
So I built Singers Gym. It's a structured, progressive training system that treats your voice like the athletic instrument it is. Breath, core, and sound, trained together, measured over time. I built it for myself first. Then I turned it into a program for every singer who's tired of warming up and hoping for the best.
I hold a theater degree from Loyola Marymount University with additional training at NYU. I've performed at Portland Center Stage, Broadway Rose, Artists Repertory Theater, and Oregon Cabaret Theater. I was DRAMMY-nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for my role in Falsettos. My theatrical tribute Mercury Rising, a jazz-infused celebration of Freddie Mercury, has played to acclaim across Oregon. When I'm not coaching, I'm on stage with my band, recording my next album, or music-directing.
Common questions
Singers Gym is designed for serious hobbyists, students, and performers across jazz, musical theater, and contemporary music. You don't need to be advanced, but you should be someone who's been singing and wants a real framework for building stamina and consistency. The exercises scale to where you are, and the live coaching meets you there.
Plan for 10 to 20 minutes of daily practice, depending on which week you're in. The weekly live coaching call is about 60 minutes.
Absolutely. This is designed for working singers. The training complements your performance schedule, not competes with it. The recovery and load management content is especially useful when you're mid-run.
Yes. Every live session is recorded and added to your portal within 24 hours. You have lifetime access to all recordings, so you never miss the coaching even if you can't make it live.
Life happens. You have lifetime access, so you can pick up where you left off anytime. The sessions stay unlocked and all recordings are always available.
If you complete the first two weeks of training and it's not working for you, email me and you'll get a full refund. No hoops, no hard feelings.
